Heart Foundation (IHF) Guidelines -  Health Care Providers, for candidates working in the Health CareSystem
Aim: To provide personnel involved in healthcare with the knowledge and skill to recognise a cardiac arrest, perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrilator (AED).

Training Objectives:
On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Recognise Cardiac Arrest
  • Perform CPR 1 & 2 rescuer
  • Use of Face Masks & Bag Valve Mask (BVM)
  • Use an AED
  • Recognise Choking and Treatment
  • Know the steps to take to assist a choking victim

Course Syllabus

  • Scene Assessment
  • CPR 1 & 2 rescuer
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Adults, children & Infants
  • Use of Airway Devices
  • Choking
  • AED

Course Duration: 1 Day

Certification:All successful candidates will be certified in CPR and AED through the Irish Heart Foundation (IHF). Certification is valid for 2 years from date of issue, thereafter subject to re-certification.
